Firebase And Supabase

Firebase

Cache-Control Headers: In Firebase Hosting, you can configure cache-control headers to specify how long browsers should cache your static assets. For images, a long cache duration is typically fine since they don't change often.

Modify firebase.json: This file in your project directory lets you configure how Firebase Hosting serves your files.

{

"public": "public",

{
"source": "/images/**",

{

"value": "public, max-age=31536000, immutable"
}
]
}

}

Supabase

Its open-source nature, comprehensive feature set, and generous free tier make it a compelling alternative to the old Firebase Storage model.

  • Pros:
    • Open-source and actively developed, making it a strong contender.
    • Offers a comprehensive suite of features beyond storage, including databases, authentication, and more.
    • Has a generous free tier that includes a reasonable amount of storage.
  • Cons:
    • May have some limitations compared to the full-fledged Firebase ecosystem.

Cloudflare Workers Sites

  • Pros:
    • Excellent for static content delivery with a global edge network.
    • Offers a generous free tier for basic usage.
    • Can be used to host and serve files directly.
  • Cons:
    • Primarily designed for static content, may not be ideal for all storage needs.

Important Considerations

  • Usage Patterns: Carefully evaluate your specific storage needs (e.g., file types, access patterns, bandwidth requirements) to choose the most suitable option.
  • Free Tier Limitations: Be mindful of the limitations of each platform's free tier. Usage exceeding these limits may incur costs.
  • Scalability: Consider how each option scales as your application and storage needs grow.
